Christmas Traditions

It’s almost Christmas time!

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year. I love getting together with friends and family, and taking some time to relax and enjoy some quiet time. It’s the time of year when we see the first snowfall, delight in all the bright Christmas lights, and snuggle up on the sofa drinking hot cacao while watching Christmas movies and playing board games with family and friends. (Or, at least, that’s how it is in my house!)

My husband and I have a few traditions that we like to indulge in each Christmas season, and thought I would share them with you.

Christmas Movies

My husband and I just love watching Christmas movies once December hits. It’s one of our favourite things to do during the festive season. There are a few films that just have to be watched in order for us to feel like Christmas is underway:

·      National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

·      It’s a Wonderful Life

·      Christmas with the Kranks

·      The Christmas Story

·      Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean

First Snow Walk

Another favourite of ours is going for a walk in the park or on a trail when the first snow falls. We just love it when that first blanket of fresh snow falls, we all bundle up in our hats, mitts and scarves, and go for a family walk. Living in Canada, I guess there is something about that first snow fall that really gets you in the mood for Christmas!

Family Time

Whether it’s me baking up a new Christmas treat and my husband testing it out, snuggling on the sofa drinking hot cacao, or hanging out with friends and family members, it’s always nice to have some family/friend time during the holidays. It reminds us how grateful we are to have such amazing people in our lives. Get out and spend a little time with the important people in your lives this Christmas season and share the gift of love!

Board Games

One of my all-time favourite things to do around Christmas time is playing board games. Our board games don’t leave the shelf much unless it’s a special occasion or we have a few friends over, so I am just itching to play when Christmas comes around! Some of our favourites board games are:

·      Pictionary

·      Monopoly

·      Scrabble

·      Scattergories

These are just a few Christmas traditions I thought I would share, from our family to yours during the holiday season. Maybe you will be inspired to include some new ones during your holiday routine this Christmas, or would like to share yours with us! Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday this Christmas season!

In love and health,
